Teams

Born in Cornishtown, Alf Trevillian emerged from north-eastern Victoria to join St Kilda during the club's arduous early years in the VFL. A utility who often operated as a follower or in the ruck, he was known for a physical, hardened playing style that reflected his background in mining. His tenure at the Junction Oval was interrupted by the "Goldfields exodus," seeing him depart Victoria after the 1903 season to chase lucrative opportunities in the Western Australian mining leagues. Trevillian turned out for the White Feather Football Club in Kanowna and later played in Perth, joining a cohort of Victorians seeking professional payments in the west. He returned to St Kilda for a final stint in 1906, concluding a VFL career that was part of a much larger journey spanning three states and hundreds of matches in regional and interstate competitions.
