Stats
Bio
A Tasmanian recruit hailing from Devonport, Algy Sharp crossed Bass Strait to join St Kilda just as the league was facing the onset of the Great War. Standing 180cm, he was a capable target for the era and proved to be a highly productive forward, booting 29 goals in just 21 games across the 1914 and 1915 seasons. Despite averaging better than a goal a game in a side that often struggled for consistency, his VFL career was abruptly curtailed after just two years. Sharp eventually returned to his home state, where he resumed his football career with distinction, featuring prominently for Launceston in the early 1920s before eventually settling in the north-east town of Scottsdale.
