Bio
The younger brother of Melbourne defender Laurie Ogilvie, Alick Ogilvie was a standout junior who captained Scotch College before studying law at Ormond College. He made a solitary appearance for the Redlegs in 1905, but his career truly commenced when University entered the VFL in 1908. As a registered student, Ogilvie automatically transferred to the new amateur club and immediately established himself as a key forward, booting 21 goals in two seasons. He was regarded as one of the Students' premier players, a status confirmed when he was selected to represent Victoria at the 1908 Melbourne Carnival. Ogilvie stepped away from league football after 1909 to focus on his legal practice, but his life was cut short when he died on active service in Malta following the Gallipoli landing.
