Bio
Recruited from South Bendigo, Alister Carr endured a long apprenticeship before finally cracking the AFL level. Originally selected by Essendon with pick 26 in the 1989 National Draft, the 189cm utility spent four seasons at Windy Hill without making a senior appearance. St Kilda offered him a lifeline with the final selection of the 1994 Pre-season Draft, and he eventually made his long-awaited debut in Round 12 against Geelong. Carr played four consecutive matches for the Saints, booting a solitary goal during a clash with West Coast, but was unable to retain his spot on the list at the season's end. While his on-field career was brief, he is often remembered in football folklore as the former housemate and best man of Essendon legend James Hird.
