Bio
Recruited from Bairnsdale, Alister Ford was a towering ruck-forward who made a startling entry into VFL football by booting three goals on debut against Collingwood as a 17-year-old. Although he possessed an imposing 196cm frame, Ford struggled to lock down a permanent senior position during his five seasons at Footscray. He crossed to St Kilda in 1986, where he was immediately tasked with filling a void at full-forward for a suspended Tony Lockett. Ford played his best football at Moorabbin, highlighted by a dominant, Brownlow vote-winning performance against Melbourne, before eventually departing the VFL to become a decorated figure in the Ballarat and Geelong country leagues.
