Bio
Recruited from Burwood in Melbourne’s east, Allan Chandler was a sturdy ruckman and follower who served Hawthorn during their challenging "Mayblooms" era. The son of state politician Alfred Chandler, he made his VFL debut midway through the 1928 season and created a unique piece of history by playing alongside his brother, Gilbert, in the final round of that year. Standing 188cm, he was a key aerial target for the struggling side, often shouldering the ruck load or drifting forward to impact the contest. After missing the entire 1930 season, Chandler returned to the senior side to play out two final campaigns, ultimately finishing his career as a reliable local product who helped stabilize the club during its leanest years.
