Bio
Born in the Mallee town of Rainbow and recruited from Pascoe Vale, Allan Greenshields occupies a unique place in Carlton history as the "20th man" who never took the field during the famous 1947 Premiership win. Often stuck on the pine as a reserve during his time at Princes Park, he struggled to cement a starting spot and eventually crossed to St Kilda mid-way through the 1949 season in search of regular senior football. The move revitalised his career, allowing him to settle into a role as a consistent half-back flanker at the Junction Oval for the next six years. Despite playing the majority of his games for the Saints, he remained a devoted Carlton man, later receiving life membership as a member of the 1947 squad.
