Bio
Representing the third generation of the Hird dynasty at Windy Hill, Allan Hird jnr followed his grandfather James and father Allan Sr into the Essendon ranks. A centreman who struggled to command a regular place in the senior lineup, he managed just four games across two seasons in the mid-1960s before moving on from the VFL level. While his own playing tenure was brief, his connection to the club's history proved significant as the father of future captain and Brownlow Medallist James Hird, ensuring the family's association with the Bombers extended into a fourth generation.
