Stats
Bio
Recruited from local side Brighton Vale, Allan Hope arrived at Melbourne in 1928 as a dual-sport talent who had spent the previous four summers establishing himself as a successful cricketer. He made his debut in the opening round of the season and showed immediate promise as a goal-kicking midfielder and forward, booting seven goals in just four senior appearances. Despite this sharp start in front of the sticks, he fell out of the senior side after Round 7 and, although he remained on the Demons' list for 1929, he did not add to his VFL game tally. Hope eventually transferred to Hawthorn in 1930 where he played in the reserves, before finishing his football journey as captain-coach of Moorabbin in the Federal League.
