Bio
Recruited to South Melbourne as a teenager, Allan Hotchkin was a solidly built utility who featured sporadically for the Swans during the early 1960s. Standing 180cm and weighing in at a robust 87kg, he possessed the physical frame to hold his own in contested situations, primarily operating in defensive roles where his size allowed him to battle opposing forwards. He broke into the senior side as an 18-year-old in 1961 but found consistent selection difficult to come by, managing just 14 appearances across three seasons without registering a goal. Unable to cement a permanent spot in the starting XVIII, Hotchkin served as a depth player for the club before finishing his VFL career at the conclusion of the 1963 season.
