Bio
Recruited from Moyhu in the Ovens and King Football League, Allan Johnston was an exceptionally tall prospect for his era, standing at a towering 193cm during a time when such height was a rarity in the VFL. The giant country recruit was brought into the Fitzroy lineup early in the 1928 season, making his debut against Melbourne in Round 3 and holding his spot for a clash with Footscray the following week. Despite his imposing physical frame, Johnston's senior career was limited to just those two appearances before he drifted out of the league and eventually returned to country Victoria. His life ended in tragic and unusual circumstances in 1944 near Wangaratta, where he was killed in a car accident after a sneezing fit caused him to lose control of the vehicle.
