Stats
Bio
Recruited from local side Ivanhoe Amateurs after winning the club's best and fairest at just 18, Allan Knorr was a tall, rangy utility capable of holding down key posts at either end of the ground. Standing 185cm, he impressed immediately in his debut 1946 season, utilizing his superb overhead marking and surprising dash to fill roles at centre half-forward and in the back pocket. While he looked set for a long tenure at Victoria Park, his career was cruelly derailed by a succession of injuries, including a fractured ankle, severe knee issues, and a broken arm that restricted him to the Reserves from 1947 to 1949. Faced with an ultimatum from his father to choose between risking his mobility on the field or securing his future in the family grocery business, Knorr retired prematurely to run the store in Ivanhoe, leaving fans to wonder what might have been had his body held up.
