Stats
Bio
A diminutive rover standing just 161cm, Allan Matheson remains one of the shortest players to ever represent Essendon at the top level. Recruited locally from the Essendon District league, the stocky small man was handed his debut in the opening round of the 1946 season, playing the first three matches and contributing two goals. Despite showing promise, holding a spot in a powerhouse Bombers outfit destined for the premiership that year proved a bridge too far, and he did not feature again after Round 3. Following his brief VFL stint, Matheson moved to the Mallee region where he enjoyed a long tenure as a player for Narraport and captain-coach of Nullawil.
