Bio
Recruited from Warrnambool, Allan Oakley was a rover and forward pocket who joined Richmond during a period of high competitiveness for the club. Breaking into the senior side in 1928, he was quickly exposed to the rigours of finals football, earning selection in both the 1928 and 1929 Grand Final losses to Collingwood. While he offered value as a goal-kicking small who could rotate through the midfield, Oakley found it difficult to cement a long-term position in a strong Tigers lineup, concluding his VFL career after four seasons at Punt Road.
