Recruited from Wangaratta in the Ovens and Murray Football League, Allan Skehan was a tall key position prospect who arrived at Princes Park in 1927. Standing 187cm, he possessed significant height for the era and was utilised as a follower and forward target capable of hitting the scoreboard. While he struggled to cement a permanent place in the senior lineup, managing just 13 games over three seasons, he was called upon for major fixtures and featured in the club's 1928 finals campaign.
