Bio
Andrew Carrazzo's path to becoming a Carlton stalwart was defined by resilience rather than immediate success. Originally rookie-listed by Geelong, he dominated at the state league level—winning the 2003 J.J. Liston Trophy in the VFL—but was delisted by the Cats without playing a senior game. Handed a lifeline by Carlton via the rookie draft, Carrazzo seized his second chance, quickly elevating himself to the senior list to become a permanent fixture in the Blues' lineup.
While he began his career as a rebounding small defender, Carrazzo evolved into a prolific ball-winning midfielder and eventually one of the competition's most disciplined taggers. His ability to negate opposition stars while accumulating high possession numbers himself became his trademark, a dual-threat capability that saw him win the John Nicholls Medal as Carlton's best and fairest in 2007. He served as a vice-captain and remained a key leadership figure at Princes Park until persistent soft-tissue injuries forced his retirement in 2015, bowing out as a highly respected 194-game player who maximised every opportunity after his initial delisting.
