Bio
Recruited from Swan Districts with pick 57 in the 1998 National Draft, Andrew Embley developed into one of the era's premier tall wingmen. Standing at 189cm, his elite aerobic capacity and strong overhead marking ability made him a distinct mismatch for smaller opponents, allowing him to drift forward and impact the scoreboard regularly. He became a vital cog in West Coast's celebrated midfield unit during the mid-2000s, playing a pivotal role in the club's intense rivalry with Sydney.
Embley's crowning achievement came in the 2006 Grand Final, where he was awarded the Norm Smith Medal for a best-on-ground performance that included 26 disposals and two crucial goals to help secure the premiership. While his later years were occasionally interrupted by injury and form fluctuations, he remained an influential senior figure and vice-captain within the playing group. He retired in 2013 as a one-club player and West Coast life member, finishing his career just shy of the 250-game milestone.
