Bio
Recruited from North Ballarat, Andrew Ford was a patient developer who spent two full seasons honing his craft in the Under 19s and reserves after being selected with pick 55 in the 1988 National Draft. He finally earned his senior opportunity in 1991, handed the daunting task of tagging Collingwood skipper Tony Shaw on debut—a role in which he impressed. A hard-working midfielder, Ford added another four games to his tally in 1992 but struggled to cement a permanent spot in the Demons' engine room. His momentum was stalled by a broken finger mid-season, and he was ultimately delisted at the end of the year, returning to North Ballarat where he later became a premiership player in the mid-90s.
