Bio
Recruited from Subiaco, Andrew MacNish entered the VFL with a burgeoning reputation as one of Western Australia’s "Magnificent Seven" Teal Cup graduates. He proved his quality early, earning All-Australian selection after a standout 1986 State of Origin carnival before he had even played a top-level league game. An inaugural West Coast Eagle, he made an immediate impact by booting three goals on debut against Richmond in Round 1, 1987, and later kicked a bag of five against St Kilda. However, the classy rover and half-forward struggled for continuity due to persistent injuries and fell out of favour, eventually being delisted at the end of 1991. Handed a lifeline by Geelong in the 1992 mid-season draft, MacNish offered a final glimpse of his undeniable talent with a five-goal haul against Brisbane, but managed just three games for the Cats before returning to the WAFL to cement his legacy as a Subiaco great.
