Stats
Bio
Recruited from North Launceston in Tasmania, Andrew McLean was a tall utility selected by St Kilda with pick six in the 1996 Pre-Season Draft. Standing at 193cm, he was primarily a ruckman capable of drifting forward or filling a key position post, a versatility he displayed during the Saints' successful 1996 Ansett Cup campaign where he featured in the night premiership victory over Carlton. Despite this promising start, McLean found it difficult to command a regular spot in Stan Alves's senior lineup, managing just six games and a solitary goal as the club began its ascent up the ladder. Unable to secure a contract beyond his debut season, he moved to South Australia where he carved out a respectable state league career with Norwood and Glenelg before eventually returning to Tasmania to coach at the school level.
