Bio
Recruited from the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL, Darwin-born Andrew McLeod arrived at Adelaide via a trade that remains part of football folklore, with Fremantle exchanging the pick required to draft him for Chris Groom. While he showed early promise after his 1995 debut, he etched his name into history during the Crows' back-to-back premierships in 1997 and 1998. In both Grand Finals, McLeod was judged best afield, becoming the first player to win consecutive Norm Smith Medals and providing the spark that delivered the club its first flags.
Renowned for his smooth movement and clinical disposal, McLeod possessed a rare ability to find time and space in heavy traffic. He spent the peak of his career as an explosive midfielder who could drift forward and kick goals, before transitioning into a polished half-back flanker. From the backline, his elite reading of the play and precise distribution allowed him to control the tempo of matches, earning him five All-Australian blazers and three Malcolm Blight Medals as the club's best and fairest.
