Bio
Selected by Adelaide with pick 40 in the 2017 National Draft out of Woodville-West Torrens, South Australian local Andrew McPherson faced a difficult start to his AFL career due to persistent soft tissue setbacks. He finally made his debut in the 2020 season, quickly establishing himself as a composed medium defender capable of intercepting opposition entries and distributing the ball efficiently by foot. McPherson showed significant promise during that initial campaign, earning a Rising Star nomination and the club's Mark Bickley Emerging Talent Award, suggesting he would be a long-term fixture in the Crows' backline. However, his career remained plagued by durability issues, including recurring hamstring and knee injuries that severely limited his continuity on the field. After missing the entire 2023 season due to a quad injury sustained while recovering from knee surgery, McPherson was delisted, ending his time at West Lakes with just 28 senior appearances.
