Bio
Selected by St Kilda with pick 17 in the 2004 National Draft, Andrew McQualter built a career defined by tactical discipline and selfless role-playing rather than individual accolades. A fixture under Ross Lyon, he established himself as a high-pressure defensive forward and tagger during the Saints' premiership window, playing in all three Grand Finals across the 2009 and 2010 seasons. After being delisted by St Kilda, he was thrown a lifeline by the Gold Coast Suns to provide mature-age leadership to their developing list, though he managed just five games in his final season. Following his retirement, McQualter transitioned into a highly regarded coaching career, serving a lengthy apprenticeship during Richmond's dynasty before being appointed senior coach of the West Coast Eagles ahead of the 2025 season.
