Bio
Recruited from Tasmanian club Lauderdale, Andrew Phillips began his career as a foundation player for Greater Western Sydney via the 2011 Rookie Draft. Unable to cement the number one ruck spot ahead of experienced teammates like Shane Mumford, he was part of a significant four-player trade to Carlton following the 2015 season. Phillips largely served as a reliable understudy to Matthew Kreuzer during his time at the Blues, utilised for his strong contested marking and capacity to drift forward and kick goals. Seeking further opportunities, he crossed to arch-rivals Essendon ahead of the 2020 season, where he became a valued depth player and mentor to developing talls. A quintessential journeyman who maximised his career over 12 seasons across three clubs, Phillips retired at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
