Bio
Recruited from Marcellin College with pick 68 in the 1993 Pre-Season Draft, Andrew Tranquilli was a poise-filled utility who briefly shone as a forward before injuries curtailed his career. Although originally scouted as a defender—and often deployed across half-back in the reserves to gain confidence—he played his best football as a third tall forward with excellent balance and goal sense. His time at Collingwood is defined by a standout performance in Round 13, 1994, where he booted six goals in just his third senior game to help the Magpies upset the ladder-leading West Coast Eagles. That display earned him a Brownlow vote and cemented his spot for the remainder of the season, including the heartbreaking Qualifying Final loss to the same opponent. However, he was unable to build on that promise, with a broken leg in 1995 and persistent hamstring issues in 1996 restricting him to the sidelines until he was delisted.
