Bio
Recruited from the Bendigo Pioneers with pick 34 in the 1997 National Draft, Andrew Williams established himself as a pacy midfielder and half-forward at West Coast. His most consistent football came during the 2000 season, where he played every game and utilised his significant running capacity to break lines and hit the scoreboard. After five seasons in Perth, he sought a return to Victoria at the end of 2002, resulting in a trade to Collingwood that saw Damien Adkins move West in exchange.
Arriving at Collingwood with the expectation of adding much-needed speed to the midfield, Williams played 18 games in his debut season for the Magpies, culminating in an appearance in the 2003 Grand Final loss to Brisbane. During his time at Victoria Park, his role often shifted towards defensive jobs and run-with duties rather than the attacking flair he had displayed for the Eagles. He struggled to cement a permanent spot in the senior side during his final two years and was delisted at the conclusion of the 2005 season.
