Bio
A sandy-haired giant recruited from Abbotsford, Andy Duff was plucked from local obscurity to solve a ruck crisis for Collingwood at the dawn of the 1910 season. Standing 185cm—exceptionally tall for the era—he was brought in as a teenager to cover for the absent Les ‘Lofty’ Hughes, debuting in the season opener against Carlton. While contemporary reports praised his kicking and marking, Duff was raw and found himself squeezed out of the senior lineup once the club’s established followers returned to fitness. He played just two games in what became a premiership year for the Magpies, subsequently dropping back to captain the Collingwood District reserves side before eventually moving to the country to become a respected orchardist and football administrator in Panton Hill.
