Bio
Recruited from local club St Mary's, Andy Monahan was a utility player who debuted for Geelong as a teenager in the final stages of the Second World War. Predominantly stationed on the wing or half-back flank, he offered versatility during a transitional period at Kardinia Park but found it difficult to secure a permanent position in the senior side, playing 45 games across seven seasons. His career coincided with the club's rapid ascent under Reg Hickey, and while Monahan was part of the squad during the breakthrough 1951 premiership year, he was unable to break into the formidable lineup that secured the flag. He departed the club following that triumph, having served as a reliable depth player during the build-up to the Cats' golden era.
