Bio
Arriving at St Kilda from South Yarra, Andrew "Nixey" Stewart was a rare shining light for the club during its arduous early years in the VFL. One of three brothers to don the red, white, and black alongside George and Walter, Stewart established himself as a sharp-shooting forward in a side that frequently struggled to move the ball inside 50. Despite the Saints' lack of on-field success, he topped the club's goalkicking table in both 1898 and 1899, with his 1898 haul of 23 majors ranking third across the entire competition—a significant feat for a player in a bottom-placed team. He remained a consistent contributor until his departure after the 1901 season, remembered as one of the few potent scoring threats for the battling Saints at the turn of the century.
