Stats
Bio
Recruited from Claremont with a late selection in the 1989 draft, Anthony Begovich was a versatile defender who broke into the West Coast line-up during the 1990 season. He showed immediate promise, playing nine games in his debut year—including appearances in both the semi-final and preliminary final—but found it difficult to secure a permanent spot in a formidable Eagles backline that featured Guy McKenna and John Worsfold. After battling injuries and spending two seasons on the fringe of selection, Begovich was traded to Sydney at the end of 1992 alongside Scott Watters in a high-profile deal that secured the Eagles the number one draft pick, eventually used to recruit Drew Banfield. He managed five senior games for the Swans in 1993 before his AFL career came to a close.
