Recruited from St Joseph's in the Geelong Football League, Anthony Darcy was a towering ruckman whose AFL career was defined by his journeyman status across three Victorian clubs in the 1990s. Selected by Geelong with pick 34 in the 1991 National Draft, he found senior opportunities scarce behind the Cats' established talls, managing just three appearances before crossing to Footscray in search of greater game time. While his stint at the Western Oval yielded his most consistent run of senior football, comprising 11 games over two seasons, he struggled to permanently cement a spot in the starting lineup and was subsequently delisted. Darcy was handed a final lifeline by St Kilda in the 1996 Pre-Season Draft, where he served primarily as a depth player for two years under Stan Alves, ultimately finishing his career with 18 games to his name.
