Anthony Dwyer

Recruited from Macquarie in the ACT, Anthony Dwyer joined his older brother David at North Melbourne, operating primarily as a nippy rover and forward pocket with a keen eye for goal. Despite showing flashes of potential after his 1990 debut, Dwyer found it difficult to cement a regular position in a Kangaroos side that was rapidly evolving into a premiership powerhouse under Denis Pagan. Faced with immense competition for small forward and midfield spots in one of the decade's strongest lists, he spent much of his seven-season tenure on the fringe of selection, often drifting in and out of the senior side. He remained on the list until the end of the club's triumphant 1996 campaign but was delisted having played just 30 senior games, ultimately unable to break into the best 22 during the Roos' golden era.
