Bio
A mature-age recruit from VFA club Prahran, McGregor was selected by Fitzroy with pick 28 in the 1993 Mid-Season Draft after previously spending time in Collingwood's reserves system. A versatile utility standing 185cm, he made an immediate impact with his ball-winning ability, notably polling five Brownlow votes during the 1994 season to finish equal-third in the struggling club's count. McGregor remained a solid contributor throughout the Roys' tumultuous final years in the competition, playing 41 games until the club's operations ceased in 1996. While the merger with the Brisbane Bears offered a potential pathway to continue his career interstate, severe hamstring injuries unfortunately scuppered his chances of relocating north, effectively ending his time at the elite level.
