Bio
Recruited from Shepparton United via the Murray Bushrangers, Anthony Mellington arrived at Fitzroy as a first-round selection in the 1994 National Draft. A solidly built forward capable of taking strong contested marks, he showed flashes of potential during the Lions' tumultuous final seasons and holds the distinction of playing in the club's historical last match against Fremantle in 1996. Following the merger, Mellington was recruited by North Melbourne, but he faced the difficult task of breaking into a formidable forward line spearheaded by Wayne Carey. While he managed sporadic appearances over three seasons at Arden Street, including 13 games during the 1998 season, he was unable to cement a permanent spot in the Kangaroos' senior side and was delisted following the club's 1999 premiership campaign.
