Bio
Recruited from the Victoria Brewery, Arch Knott was a member of a prominent sporting clan that included brother Dan, who played for Collingwood, and brother George, an Olympian and future Mayor of Collingwood. A solidly built utility who alternated between half-back and the followers division, Knott was a consistent contributor for Fitzroy in the late 1930s before his career was stalled by the Second World War. He returned to the field in 1944 but transferred to St Kilda during the season, a fateful decision that saw him leave the Maroons just months before their historic premiership victory to join a struggling Saints outfit. He played out the remainder of his days at the Junction Oval, providing experienced depth during the competition's transitional post-war phase.
