Bio
Recruited from West Melbourne, Archie Snell was a skilled rover and forward who became a consistent performer during the early years of Jack Worrall's legendary tenure at Carlton. Renowned for his clean ball-handling in greasy conditions, Snell played 92 games for the Blues and was a pivotal contributor to the squads that secured the club's first two flags. However, he holds the unfortunate distinction of playing regularly throughout the 1906 and 1907 campaigns but missing selection for both Grand Final victories, although the club later acknowledged his contribution to the 1907 premiership year with a commemorative cap. Finding opportunities limited in a star-studded lineup, he transferred to fierce rival Essendon in 1908 but added just one final game to his career tally before retiring.
