Bio
Archie Wilson was a serendipitous discovery for Carlton, plucked from Tatura in country Victoria after club secretary Arthur Ford travelled to scout a different prospect but was captivated by Wilson's performance instead. A robust follower and ruck-rover, he was fast-tracked into the senior side late in the 1910 season and found himself playing in a Grand Final against Collingwood just weeks after his debut. Although the Blues were defeated in that premiership decider, Wilson established himself as a reliable contributor over the following years, providing grit in the midfield rotation before his opportunities dwindled in 1913. His career remains a classic example of a country recruit making an immediate impact on the league's biggest stage.
