Bio
Recruited from the amateur ranks at Collegians, Arthur "Art" Atkinson arrived at Melbourne during the VFL's infancy, notably joining his brother Bill Atkinson in the senior side. He earned his call-up late in the 1898 season, making his debut in Round 14 against Geelong as the Fuschias looked to bolster their lineup. Standing 174cm, Atkinson managed to hit the scoreboard during his brief stint, booting a lone goal while holding his spot for the final month of the year. His top-flight career was ultimately short-lived, restricted to just four consecutive appearances in the league's second ever season.
