Bio
Born in rural New South Wales, Arthur Caldwell built a formidable reputation in the VFA with Williamstown before making his brief mark at the top level. He was a key member of the Seagulls' 1907 premiership side, famously patrolling one wing in the Grand Final while his brother Jim manned the other. Caldwell crossed to St Kilda for the 1909 season, bringing his experience and pace to the Saints' lineup for eight senior appearances. While his VFL career was short-lived, his legacy remains tied to his service for his country; he enlisted in the AIF at the outbreak of World War I and was severely wounded at Gallipoli, dying of his injuries in Malta in July 1915.
