Bio
Recruited from the local Richmond Recruits, Arthur Mooney was a pacy half-forward flanker who quickly established himself as a dangerous avenue to goal for the Tigers. Renowned for his speed and finishing ability, he enjoyed a career-best season in 1946 when he topped the club's goalkicking with 49 majors and finished third in the Best and Fairest count. While he featured in the 1944 Grand Final side that ultimately fell to Fitzroy, he was unable to secure a premiership medallion during his six seasons at Punt Road. Mooney departed the VFL after 1948 to continue his career in the Latrobe Valley with Morwell, later becoming a founding administrator and life member of the Maryvale Football Club.
