Bio
Recruited from Murrumbeena Amateurs, Arthur Robertson established himself as a key defensive pillar for St Kilda during the late 1930s. Standing 183cm, he primarily manned the full-back position, where his ability to repel opposition attacks earned him significant recognition even while playing in a struggling side. His 1941 campaign was particularly immense, seeing him poll eight Brownlow Medal votes—a remarkable tally for a deep defender in that era. Robertson's top-level career was effectively brought to a premature close by World War II, during which he served in the Royal Australian Air Force, though he later returned to the field as a playing coach for Sorrento in the Mornington Peninsula league.
