Bio
Recruited from Brighton in the VFA, Artie Dawson arrived at the Junction Oval in 1918 as the league operated under the shadow of the Great War. He quickly found a place in the side as a rotational forward and midfielder, managing to hit the scoreboard with reasonable frequency for a struggling Saints outfit that rarely threatened the top of the ladder. After a promising start where he featured regularly across the 1918 and 1919 seasons, Dawson stepped away from VFL level for the entire 1920 campaign. He returned to the senior lineup for a brief stint in 1921, adding a handful of appearances before departing the league as a handy depth player who helped bridge the club's roster during a difficult post-war transition.
