Bio
A pacy winger with a sharp eye for goal, Artie Freeman arrived at Collingwood from the Preston District and showed flashes of genuine talent during the league's developing years. Born in Bairnsdale, he was the older brother of future South Melbourne forward and World War I casualty Jack Freeman. Artie spent three seasons at Victoria Park, where his speed and finishing ability saw him boot 17 goals in 27 games, allowing him to hold his own as a dangerous flanker in a strong Magpies outfit. However, his career unravelled in a chaotic 1911 campaign that saw him become a footballing nomad; he departed Collingwood to play a solitary match for Fitzroy before crossing to Essendon later that same season for another single senior appearance. Despite the unique distinction of representing three foundation clubs in the span of four years, Freeman's VFL journey ended abruptly after just 29 games.
