Bio
Recruited from the Phoenix and Essendon Town clubs, Artie McSpeerin played a peripheral role in the VFL's formative years, managing just three senior appearances spread across two distinct chapters. A forward capable of hitting the scoreboard, he booted two majors in his two games for Carlton in 1899 but could not secure a permanent place in the lineup. After a four-year absence from league football—during which he distinguished himself as a District cricketer for Collingwood—McSpeerin resurfaced for a solitary match with Melbourne in 1903. He was unable to cement a regular spot at either club and eventually emigrated to New Zealand, where he lived until his untimely death in 1935 following a traffic accident involving a fire engine in Wellington.
