Bio
Recruited from the Collingwood Juniors, Artie Robson was a dangerous forward who managed to average better than a goal a game during his brief tenure at Victoria Park. His VFL career is best remembered for a dramatic interruption in early 1901, when he enlisted in the Second Scottish Horse to serve in the Boer War. His time in South Africa was perilous, resulting in broken ribs after his horse was shot out from under him, yet he recovered with remarkable speed to return to Melbourne and feature in the Magpies' final three games of that same season. Despite this resilience and a promising ability to hit the scoreboard, his time at the club ended abruptly following a failed clearance bid to South Melbourne. He eventually moved to Tasmania, where he captained a northern representative side against his former teammates in 1906.
