Bio
Recruited from the Calder Cannons in Victoria, Ashley Fernee was a tall key position prospect who arrived at West Lakes via the 1995 National Draft. Standing 196cm, he managed to break into the senior side late in his debut season, playing two matches including a Round 17 debut against Fitzroy. However, Fernee found himself on the fringe of the squad just as the club entered its golden era under Malcolm Blight, and he was unable to force his way into the formidable lineup that secured back-to-back premierships in 1997 and 1998. After failing to add to his game tally over the subsequent two years, he was delisted following the 1998 season. He briefly remained in South Australia to play with South Adelaide in the SANFL in hopes of earning a lifeline before eventually returning to Victoria to play local football with East Keilor.
