Bio
Recruited from Warragul, Ashley Green was originally a talented junior selected by Essendon with pick 19 in the 1989 National Draft but failed to crack the senior side during his time at Windy Hill. He was handed a career lifeline when the Brisbane Bears selected him with the first pick in the 1992 Pre-Season Draft, immediately slotting into the lineup as a tall utility capable of playing at either end of the ground. Green was a fixture in the Bears' best 22 during his debut season, playing 18 games as the club navigated a difficult era at Carrara, but he fell out of favour the following year and added just five more appearances before his AFL career concluded. He eventually returned to the Gippsland Football League, where he served multiple tenures as senior coach of his home club, Warragul.
