Bio
The son of respected media commentator Clark Hansen, Ashley Hansen was recruited from the Oakleigh Chargers with pick 38 in the 2001 National Draft. Developing into a classic centre half-forward, he became renowned for his elite contested marking and ability to present as a reliable lead-up target. Hansen served as a crucial structural pivot in the Eagles' forward line during their mid-2000s dominance, acting as the perfect foil for Quentin Lynch and contributing two goals in the 2006 premiership win over Sydney. However, his promising career was ultimately derailed by persistent hamstring issues that severely restricted his availability in subsequent seasons. With his body failing him and the club undergoing a forward line rebuild, Hansen managed just 20 games in his final three years before being delisted at the end of 2010.
