Bio
Recruited from South Fremantle with pick six in the 2001 National Draft, Ashley Sampi was a gifted small forward who thrilled fans with his explosive pace and vertical leaping ability. He established himself as a dangerous target in the Eagles' forward line, best remembered for his spectacular grab against Melbourne which claimed the 2004 Mark of the Year. Sampi played a key role in West Coast's 2005 campaign, featuring in the Grand Final loss to Sydney, but his career was frequently hampered by issues with conditioning and consistency. Although he participated in the early stages of the 2006 finals series, he was omitted from the premiership side and managed just a handful of appearances the following year before being delisted at the end of 2007, leaving the game as a player of immense but unfulfilled potential.
