Stats
Bio
Recruited from the Dandenong Stingrays with pick 36 in the 2008 National Draft, Ashley Smith was a line-breaking defender and wingman best known for his elite pace. After making his debut in Round 15, 2010, he enjoyed a breakout season in 2011, playing 20 games and featuring in two finals where his run-and-carry became a valuable asset for the Eagles. While he possessed the physical attributes to play as a rebounding back or a defensive stopper, Smith struggled to cement a permanent position in the best 22 following his sophomore surge, often finding himself on the fringe of selection. Unable to recapture his earlier consistency, he was delisted by West Coast at the end of the 2014 season after 45 senior appearances.
